Last night we celebrated Kathy’s birthday with treats, but were then distracted by a couple of things. First, Christi and Grace both had their new spinning wheels – woot!

(I forgot to take a picture of Christi’s Kiwi after we got it assembled.)

But we also got to meet our newest knitter, Ella Ruth, and we all took turns holding Megan’s 2-week old daughter.

(Look how well Ella’s onesie matches our KTS t-shirts!)

Ella was a really good sport, and we know she’ll make a great knitter in a few years!

Yesterday, six of us took off for the Lakes Area Fiber Arts Festival in Osage Beach, Missouri. This was apparently the seventh annual festival, but it was our first time there. Within moments of entering the market, three of us had won door prizes, and before we left, everyone else in our group had won a prize!

We saw old friends and favorite booths, like Dianne and Morning Moon Alpacas, Liz from Whirlwind Ranch, Darlene and Judy from A Twist in Time, and Janet and Leslie from JWrayco. But we also made a new friend and found a new favorite to add to our list – Rachel from Dyeabolical! We’ve been fans of hers online for a while, but it was awesome to see her gorgeous yarn and fiber in person.

There was quite a bit of shopping. It was a good thing we brought two vehicles. :-)

Congratulations to Megan and Neil who welcomed their beautiful new daughter, Ella Ruth, to the world last Thursday! (Megan, we’ll take that as an excused absense from KTS, but hope to see you back soon!)

The knitters of KTS are celebrating the impending arrival of our first KTS baby, thanks to Megan! Obviously, a surprise baby shower complete with knitted gifts, yummy food, and a few monkeys were all in order. We had a great time last Thursday and can’t wait to meet who we’ve nicknamed “Rocky.”

Another week of knitting fun and we forgot to take pictures again! We had a full house, but missing Steph who had a family obligation, and Jennifer and Barb who were both sick. Nancy from Oregon came to hang out with us, and I don’t think we scared her off.

We were all working on our mitts for the KAL, and several in the group have already knit more than one pair! Jen finished her rainbow socks and was working on another pair, and Megan has a Citron shawl in progress using Wollmeise – yum! Kathy is almost finished with a bulky cabled hat of her own design, and promises to finish her CPH soon!

Mary W. worked on her “45-Minute Mittens,” using 5 strands of yarn held together, and which Mary V. deemed, “45-Minute Mittens for everyone except Mary W.,” LOL! We’ll stay out of that one!

Ester turned the Shur’tugal sock pattern into gloves, and Christi and Grace were as dedicated as always working on their projects – at least until Christi’s needle broke. Boo!

Christa continued to distract Tammy by making her want to cast on Borough as soon as she got home, and Ginger has begun a habit of bringing hummus and crackers for us to snack on. And Jen brought chocolate long john’s from St. Georges – we definitely weren’t lacking for food!

Next week we’ll try to get some photos to go along with our recap. :-)
